MUNICH (Germany) - Everyone loves an upset - except those who are beaten - which is a big reason to get excited about every FIBA national team break.
And, the second window of the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers provided some big-time shockers that will be remembered for some time. You can vote below for your favorite.
Here is the full list of upsets in order of differential in the FIBA World Ranking Presented by NIKE:
Sweden (#49) 73-72 Germany (#3)
Sweet Sweden KOs Kramer: Raise your hand if you saw this one coming. Come on Sweden fans, not even you expected your Sverige boys to chop down the world champions.
Gameday 4 will be remembered for the Swedes shocking Germany with the No. 3 ranked team wasting a record-breaking 43 points from David Kramer. A loss against the number 49 team in the world was not what Germany’s new head coach Alex Mumbru expected to start his tenure.
So, we have 43 (as in Kramer's points) and 49 (as in Sweden's ranking), let's go right between those for 46 - as in a 46-place upset according to the rankings, the highest in November.
Portugal (#55) 82-74 Slovenia (#11)
Emerging Portugal strike again: Don't look now but Portugal have made this list in two straight windows. Mario Gomes' team surprised Ukraine in the first window - securing their first FIBA EuroBasket Qualifiers win since September 2016.
It looks like Slovenia didn't get the memo and the Iberians pounced on the 2017 European champs in Almada. Portugal jumped ahead 49-24 at halftime and held on for the even bigger shocker than from the first window.
In fact, Portugal just missed out on the biggest upset of the window - a differential of 44 places.
Great Britain (#50) 73-72 Greece (#13)
Revenge (for football) is oh so sweet: Greece made world headlines six weeks ago when they went to Wembley and blindsided England for a 1-0 victory in Nation's League football. It was Hellas' first ever victory over England in that other sport.
Well, revenge can be oh so sweet. Great Britain blew off a bombshell of their own in defeating Greece. The Brits trailed by 17 points but that didn't stop them from charging back.
These two sides had a 37-ranking difference, making it the third-biggest upset of the window.
Iceland (#48) 81-74 Italy (#14)
Ice(land) in their veins: What a difference three days makes. Iceland were pushed around and bullied at home by Italy in the first game of the window - falling by 24 points in Reykjavik.
Craig Pedersen's team sent a message back home to the Iceland faithful in the second game. We can battle with anyone and we can make you proud. The Nordic country wasted a 14-point lead but rebounded in style and are on the brink of going back to the FIBA EuroBasket.
There was a difference of 34 places in the world ranking - making this the fourth-biggest surprise in the window.
Netherlands (#51) 77-70 Czechia (#19)
Netherlands checkmate Czechia: Netherlands have become an up-and-coming basketball nation but they still are not at the level of Czechia. But that's where the surprise comes in.
Netherlands picked a good time for their first win in the Qualifiers - denying the Czechs a chance to secure their ticket to next summer's big showcase.
Estonia (#44) 82-78 Poland (#16)
Estonia still have it: Just like Portugal, Estonia also make this list for the second window running. Estonia truly shocked the European basketball landscape in the first window by beating Baltic rivals Lithuania.
This time around, it was 'only' a win over Poland - in the head coaching debut of Heiko Rannula. But it was on the road in Wloclawek. Still, the win kept Estonia undefeated in the group, before falling to defeat at home.
The other upsets were all only single digit difference in terms of world ranking. And two of those wins came by the same team - with Georgia beating Finland 90-83 and 81-64, while Israel also did a double over Ukraine, 86-73 and 88-75. There was also Bosnia and Herzegovina defeating Croatia 110-90 in a major boost to their qualification hopes.
