MUNICH (Germany) - Celebrations broke out across the continent this weekend as a number of Europe's biggest clubs captured their domestic cup trophies, while some smaller teams partied even harder after pulling off some massive surprises.
The majority of the continent's cup competitions came to a dramatic ending - though some countries still have their cup competitions to be played - as the weekend marked the lead-in to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 Qualifiers window as players join up with their national teams.
One of the biggest highlights of the cup season thus far came in Spain where Real Madrid knocked off FC Barcelona 96-85 in El Clasico for Real's first Copa del Rey triumph since 2020.
The biggest surprise of the weekend had to come in Italy where Basket Napoli finished off a magical Final 8 by claiming their first Italian Cup since 2006. After taking down league leaders Germani Brescia in the Quarter-Finals and then Reggio Emilia in the Semi-Finals, Napoli shocked Olimpia Milano with a 77-72 win in the title game under the guidance of Poland's head coach Igor Milicic.

An even bigger shock happened in Montenegro where SC Derby took down Buducnost VOLI Podgorica 81-80 in overtime for their first-ever Montenegrin Cup triumph. Mateo Dreznjak scored 19 points as Buducnost failed to win the cup for just the second time in 17 editions - the other being Sutjeska's upset in 2013.
