EuroLeague Women celebrates record-breaking digital success

MUNICH (Germany) - The relentless growth and popularity of EuroLeague Women has been underlined once again with another record breaking year of success, including unprecedented levels of fan engagement.

MUNICH (Germany) - The relentless growth and popularity of EuroLeague Women has been underlined once again with the 2023-24 campaign marking another record-breaking season of success.

As defending champions Fenerbahce Alagoz Holding etched their name in the history as back-to-back winners at the Final Four in Mersin, the league as a whole celebrated a series of wins off the court, including unprecedented levels of fan engagement.

The sky high numbers across dedicated EuroLeague Women social media channels, which include Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube and TikTok saw overall engagement rise from 3.4 million to an all-time best of 5.1 million.

Across all channels, video views nearly doubled, surging from 48 million to an impressive 95 million, while impressions experienced an equally substantial rise, climbing from 124 million to an outstanding 217 million.

The overall number of social media followers across all owned channels also increased from 503,000 to 562,000.

There was also huge engagement with the official EuroLeague Women website too, with the overall number of pageviews eclipsing the two million mark for the second season in a row, with a record number of website sessions recorded.

The editorial content on the website saw one of the biggest percentage climbs across the EuroLeague Women landscape, growing an impressive 153 percent for an all-time high of 281,160.

In terms of audiences, there was a change as both Spain and France passed Türkiye for the first time as the top two nations when it comes to users; Hungary and Italy were fourth and fifth respectively.

The EuroLeague Women App also grew in popularity with over 13,000 new users downloading the app, another all-time best figure, as was the number of app sessions.

One of the drivers of the increased engagement was the EuroLeague Women Awards which are growing each season and this time around, saw almost 80,000 fans cast a vote to help determine the winners, topping last year's all-time high by more than two-fold.

Streamed live for the very first time, the 2023-24 EuroLeague Women Awards Ceremony saw the introduction of two new categories, with Sonja Vasic becoming the first-ever recipient of the EuroLeague Women Legacy Award and league debutants Casademont Zaragoza honored with the Club Excellence Award.

Another element of EuroLeague Women's success has included innovative elements such as the new digital medals that were created for the 2024 winners, bringing the legacy of the champions into the digital age and  complementing physical medals with personalized protected digital assets.

The soaring popularity of the league was also recently highlighted when it was named as one of the fastest growing sports properties on the planet based on search growth, attaining the fourth highest spot overall and second only behind the Barclays Women's Super League in terms of women's sport.

There was also some positive news to celebrate outside of digital success, with average attendances in the competition reaching their highest mark over the last nine seasons, with a 20 percent increase from the 2022-23 campaign.
