    Mataix helped BAXI Ferrol advance to the Quarter-Finals

    It was a fairytale month for the Spanish baller and her team.

    MUNICH (Germany) - Angela Mataix has seen her stunning displays for the history-making BAXI Ferrol recognized after she was crowned the EuroCup Women MVP for January. The Spanish guard has been on fire and found her shooting touch as her team reached the Quarter-Finals by knocking out number one seeds DVTK HUNTHERM.

    Mataix averaged an excellent performance efficiency valuation of 28.5 across the Round of 16, as her team continued their fairytale run - having initially had to come through the Qualifiers.

    She returned a tremendous 24.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assist per outing during the period to lead her team into the last eight of the competition in their very first season. In the first leg of the Round of 16 on her homecourt, Mataix enjoyed a career night as she erupted for a spectacular 32 points - exactly twice as many as her previous season best. That was the inspiration for a memorable 78-73 victory, with the guard making 11 of 14 from the field and also contributing 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Despite the home success, it was DVTK who were favorites to advance and esepcially when they went 21 points ahead against Ferrol in the second meeting.

    However, the visiting team launched an amazing rescue mission and pulled put a 60-60 draw to progress, helped hugely by Mataix contributing 16 points, 8 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals.
