    Yi Jianlian named 2015 FIBA Asia Championship MVP, headlines All-Star Five

    CHANGSHA-HUNAN (2015 FIBA Asia Championship) - Chinese big man Yi Jianlian was rewarded for his impressive performance throughout the tournament by receiving the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship MVP award.

    CHANGSHA-HUNAN (2015 FIBA Asia Championship) - Chinese big man Yi Jianlian was rewarded for his consistently impressive performance throughout the tournament on Saturday by receiving the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship Most Valuable Player award, presented by Tissot.

    Yi had 11 points, 15 rebounds, and 2 blocks for China as they defeated the Philippines, 78-67, in the Final. He averaged 16.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 52.9% from the field.

    The 27-year-old headlined the All-Star Five, which also included his China team-mates Guo Ailun and Zhou Qi, Jayson Castro of Philippines, and Iran’s Samad Nikkhah Bahrami.

    As champions of the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship, China qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics, while Philippines, Iran, and Japan all booked their places in the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQTs).
