MELBOURNE (Australia) – The Gems are ready to push for a podium return when they step out at the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2019.

Having taken bronze in 2013 and 2015, they are trying to get back among the medals after missing out at the previous edition in Udine.

They will look to several players with WNBL experience to get the job done, including the likes of Rookie of the Year Jaz Shelley and Shyla Heal, who was a standout for the Sapphires on the global stage last year at the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup.

Meanwhile Alexandra Fowler, Chelsea D’Angelo and Isabelle Bourne have also logged WNBL minutes during their burgeoning careers.

Miela Goodchild will also be a big factor and has been developing during her time with Duke University. Gemma Potter was selected for the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp which underlines her potential.

The team will also be relieved to have the services of Lily Scanlon again after she was ruled out of the FIBA U18 Asia Women's campaign last year with an injury.

Australia will face USA, Hungary and Korea during the initial Group phase.
