16-year-old Greek league debutant Koloveros makes Greek U19 team
HERAKLION (Greece) - The 16-year-old Iosif Koloveros was among five players who made Greece’s team for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019 who were not on the U18 side last summer.
HERAKLION (Greece) - The 16-year-old Iosif Koloveros was among five players included on Greece's roster for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2019 who were not on the team last summer at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2018.
Koloveros, who will not turn 17 until August 28, made Giannis Kastritis’ team after a season in which he played two games in the Greek A1 league for Olympiacos. Koloveros last summer averaged 9.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2018.

Giorgis Arnokouros and Fotis Georgalas will be making their Greece national team debuts while Periklis Bazinas played at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2016 and Aristolelis Sotiriou guided Greece to the title at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2017, Division B.
The septet of Nikos Arsenopoulos, Emmanuouil Chatzidakis, Nikos Chougkaz, Zois Karampelas, Nikos Rogkavopoulos, Chrysostomos Sandramanis and Stratos Vulgaropoulos played last summer at the FIBA U18 European Championship 2018, where Greece finished 14th but were not relegated as the country was determined to host the U18 European Championship this summer in Volos.
Greece will be hosting the U19 global spectacle for the fourth time after winning the tournament in 1995, taking third in 2003 and finishing fourth in 2015, when the U19 World Cup was also in Heraklion.
