    Angola bring seven African champs to Cairo

    CAIRO (FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2017) - Angola head coach Raul Duarte will have seven champions from the FIBA U18 Africa Championship 2016 team on his squad for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2017.

    CAIRO (FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2017) - Angola head coach Raul Duarte will have seven champions from the FIBA U18 Africa Championship 2016 team on his squad for the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2017.

    Angola star Silvio De Sousa was the MVP of the tournament last summer when the country won their first continental title since 1988. And top point guard Childe Dundao will play a major role as well with Angola back on the U19 world stage for the first time since 2009.

    The other African champions on Duarte's squad are Tarcio Domingos, Jonatao Ndjungu, Geraldo Santos, Milton Valente and Cristiano Xavier.

    Two other players have international experience as Rifen Miguel played at the FIBA U16 Africa Championship 2015 and Eric Amandio appeared at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2014.

    Rifen Miguel is one of two bottom level players born in 1999 with Melvyn da Silva being the other. Da Silva meanwhile is making his national team debut as is Levy Miguel. The 2000-born Selton Miguel - expected a prize prospect for the future - for his part is back with Angola on his chest after playing in the FIBA U16 Africa Championship 2015. 

    Angola will take on Iran, Italy and the United States in Group D.
