DECIN (2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship) - Australia have been highlighting why they are being heralded by many as strong contenders for the 2016 FIBA U17 Women's World Championship.

Working with their final selection of players, the Sapphires have completed a 2-1 friendly series triumph in the Czech Republic against the reigning FIBA U16 Women's European Championship winners.

Eziyoda Magbegor Cassidy McLean Lara McSpadden Rebecca Pizzey
Kiera Rowe Jazmin Shelley Jasmine Simmons Samantha Simons

It was Jazmin Shelley who starred in the opening 71-62 success, pouring in 21 points and that is the kind of offensive touch which landed her the accolade of being the top scorer at the 2015 FIBA Oceania U16 Women’s Championship.

It was Jasmine Simmons who fired 18 points in a 70-62 reverse in the second encounter, with Australia wrapping up on a high note after cruising to a massive 68-47 success.

The final roster includes Eziyoda Magbegor, with the forward high on the watch-list for Zaragoza having played against older players at last year's FIBA U19 Women's World Championship.
