SAN JUAN (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Puerto Rico has trimmed their FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018 training camp squad to 16 players, featuring 10 who played at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017.
Head coach Omar Gonzalez cut eight players from the initial 24-man pool announced earlier this month. Victor Rosa is currently playing with the Puerto Rican team at the FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 and will join the U17 team after the tournament in St. Catharines, Canada.
“For the World Cup we want to have a competitive team as we expect a high caliber tournament where we will face the best teams in the world in this category. However, we will need several more training sessions before making the final cut,” Gonzalez said. “This is a very talented group so the final selection will not be easy.”
