SANTA FE (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Mali big man Oumar Ballo shattered the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup rebound record by 10 as he grabbed 32 boards to go with 32 points in a loss to Dominican Republic in the Classification 9-12.

Ballo made 12-of-19 shots and 8-of-14 free throws for his 32 points and grabbed 10 of his 32 rebounds from the offensive glass. The center, who won't turn 16 years until July 13,  also had 2 blocks, 1 assist and 1 steal for an efficiency of 53. But all that was not enough as Mali lost 110-108 in triple-overtime.

    ...

Ballo is now averaging 21.2 points and 17.7 rebounds for the tournament, including two showings of 19 rebounds.

The previous U17 World Cup record was 22 rebounds by both Anderson Mirambeaux of Dominican Republic against Korea at the 2016 edition and Ahmed Khalaf versus Argentina in the same tournament.

Khalaf's 22 rebounds came in Egypt's 76-73 loss to Argentina in triple overtime - the only other U17 World Cup game that went to three overtimes.
