Entire U16 Americas title-winning team among USA Basketball training camp for U17 World Cup
COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - USA Basketball has invited the entire team that won the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 among its 24-man training camp for the U17 World Cup.
COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - USA Basketball has invited the entire team that won the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 for its 24-man training camp ahead of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.
The 12 players who helped the United States to a fifth straight undefeated U16 continental crown last summer in Argentina were joined by 10 more players who have participated in at least one USA Basketball training camp in the past. Two more will be new to the setup when the camp gets underway next month in anticipation of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018 set to be staged in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina from June 30 to July 8.

"The committee is excited that these 24 athletes accepted invitations to the 2018 USA Men's U17 World Cup Team training camp, and we feel that we will have a strong, competitive group from which to select the 12-member roster," said Sean Ford, USA Basketball men's national team director and chair of the USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team Committee. "We will have a great mix of athletes, and we look forward to starting the team selection process in June."
USA head coach Don Showalter will start his training camp on June 15 in Colorado Springs. The final 12-man roster is expected to be named on June 18 and the team is expected to leave for Argentina on June 23.

The United States, who have won all four previous U17 World Cups in undefeated fashion, have been drawn into Group B with Mali, China and Serbia. The Americans open the defense of their title on June 30 against China.
