    Australian U17 team attending training camp with U18 players

    WANTIRNA SOUTH (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Basketball Australia has announced a 19-player pool for its training camp ahead of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018, including the group that won their first ever FIBA U16 Asian Championship.

    Tamuri Wigness and Wani Swaka Lo Buluk will likely be leading the team after topping Australia in scoring at the U16 continental level with 14.8 points per game. Other likely prominent players will be Australia's top rebounder Luke Jackson, along with Luke Travers, who was second on the team in assists and first in blocks.

    The Crocs will be gathering at the Centre of Excellence this weekend to start their preparations for the U17 World Cup, which will run from June 30 to July 8 in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina. Australia were drawn into Group A with Dominican Republic, Turkey and Puerto Rico.

    During the three-day camp, the U17 team will be training alongside the Emus team that will be starting its preparations for the FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2018 taking place in August.

    All 19 of the players competed at the recent U18 Australian Championship, including the Western Australian trio of Swaka Lo Buluk, Travers and Jackson who won the title. The 2002-born Blake Jones, who recently played for Australia at the U18 Albert Schweitzer Tournament in Germany, and Kian Dennis helped Queensland to second place while Victorians Joel Capetola, Joshua Bannan, Will Tattersall, Kobe Williamson and Paul Tsapatolis took third place.
