    Eleven U16 Americas champions among 30 players in USA U17 World Cup training camp

    COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Eleven of the 12 players who won the U16 Americas title in 2017 will be among the 30 nominees for the USA training camp ahead of the U17 World Cup.

    COLORADO SPRINGS (FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018) - Eleven of the 12 players who won the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2017 will be among the 30 nominees for the United States training camp ahead of the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2018.

    USA head coach Don Showalter, who will be going for his fifth straight U17 World Cup title, added nine players who had not been previously on his list of 24 announced in early May.

    The only U16 Americas champion not at the training camp, which will run from June 15-18 in Colorado Springs, Colorado will be Isaiah Todd. Anthony Edwards and Nico Mannion were al so originally on the list but will not attend the camp. Mannion, who played for Italy at the FIBA U16 European Championship 2017 after getting cut from the USA team, has been included in the Italian senior national team preliminary roster for the third window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 European Qualifiers.

    The United States, who have not lost in 30 U17 World Cup games since 2010, have been drawn into Group B with China, Mali and Serbia in the tournament in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina from June 30 to July 8. The Americans open the defense of their title on June 30 against China.
