2 million viewers tune into YouTube and Facebook live streams of Group Phase

ZARAGOZA (2016 FIBA U17 World Championships for Men and Women) - The live streaming of the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championships for Men and Women has been a huge hit, with the Group Phase attracting some two million views.

As part of FIBA's commitment to livestreaming 480 games and 840 hours across its leading world and continental youth national team championships on its YouTube and Facebook platforms this year, the event in Zaragoza has attracted unprecedented numbers.

All games at the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championships for Men and Women are being streamed live and for free on FIBA's YouTube Channel, with a selection also on Facebook. This has turned in tremendous results and high engagement levels.

On average, 33,000 viewers are watching the men's games while 10,000 are tuning in for the women's. The numbers hit a peak of 142,000 for the men's USA-Chinese Taipei clash on YouTube. Meanwhile, 155,000 viewers were recorded on Facebook when the USA faced off against Egypt.

The 43 games streamed so far have resulted in an extraordinary 87 percent increase in total views compared to the previous editions of the U17 men's and women's events in 2014.

And the numbers are expected to continue on an exciting upward curve in coming days as the leading teams at the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championships for Men and Women fight it out for the silverware and podium places.
