World Cup 2023 bidders meet with FIBA ahead of final deadline before decision

MIES - Delegations representing the four candidates in the running to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2023 met with officials from the International Basketball Federation on Friday-Saturday ahead of the final deadline in the process that began in June 2016.
The bidders - Argentina/Uruguay, Indonesia/Japan/Philippines, Russia and Turkey - met individually with FIBA representatives and used the opportunity to ask questions, obtain more information and provide/update details as part of their candidature ahead of the November 22 deadline, by which time they must submit signed Host Nation Agreement and Signed Guarantees.
This comes after each of them submitted Candidature Files at the end of August to confirm their status of being in the running to host the 19th edition of FIBA's flagship event.
During the month of October, the FIBA Evaluation Commission visited with each candidate in order to assess the bids and will submit a report on them to FIBA's Central Board.
FIBA will award and announce the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 host(s) as per a decision to be made by the Central Board at its end-of-year meeting on December 9.
