    The Chinese led by 7 at the end of the first period and proceeded to build on that till the final buzzer, prevailing, 77-48, to join Chinese Taipei at the top of Group A with a 1-0 slate.

    Three Chinese scored in double-figures - Shen Yi and Zhao Shuang each scored 14, while Li Meng led the way with 15. As for the Tall Ferns, Jillian Harmon topped the lists with 15 points.

    The Kiwis try to recover some ground tomorrow as they face off with DPR Korea, while China hope to go up 2-0 when they play Chinese Taipei.
