MVP Elgedawy highlights All-Tournament team

KAMPALA (Uganda) - On the day Egypt recaptured the FIBA Africa Zone 5 crown, Raneem Elgedawy grabbed the headlines after being named MVP of the qualifying tournament for the 2023 FIBA Women's AfroBasket.
The 25-year-old power forward inspired her country throughout the regional qualifier, and on Sunday her efforts paid off.

Besides her MVP award, the Alexandria native lifted the trophy for the best scorer of the competition thanks to her 98 points in five games.
The former Western Kentucky star averaged 19.6 points and 9.8 rebounds per game.
In the do-or-die Final against Uganda on Sunday, Elgedawy sparked Egypt with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 6 steals to help her country get away with 74-65 triumph.
She headlined the All-Tournament team alongside fellow Egyptian Reem Moussa, Jannon Otto (Uganda), Madina Okot (Kenya), and Nyamuoch Pider (South Sudan).
Egypt's Nadine Mohamed won the best three-pointer award, while Kenya's Okot scooped the best rebounder award.
Two years ago Egypt finished runners-up to Kenya, but this time around they qualified for the 2023 FIBA Women's AfroBasket - to be held in July in Kigali - as regional champions.
