Meral Asraf Abdelgawad, Asrar Bakr, Radwa Sherif and Rana Abdelfattah have all represented the North Africans at last month's FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Italy, and head coach Amr Ashour has made sure to give them a chance in the senior team.

As the youngest team at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2015 in Cameroon, the Egyptians made a tremendous noise in the Group Phase, including a win over then-reigning champions Angola.
Four players from 2015 - including team captain Mennatalla Awad, Soraia Deghady, Raneem El-Gedawy and Reem Osama - are set to return to Bamako, Mali, and will be joined by 28-year-old forward Mai Helwa, who last represented her country at FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2013 in Mozambique.
Drawn in Group B along with reigning champions Senegal, Nigeria, Guinea, DR Congo and Mozambique, Egypt will from August 18-27 try to secure one of the two tickets in offer for African teams for next year's FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain.
