ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The 16 teams that will be competing at this year's FIBA AfroBasket from 12-24 August have been confirmed, with some teams securing their places on the final day of qualifying.
A quintet of individuals put in stellar performances to send their teams to this year's African championship in style.
We take a look at the stars of the day in this feature:
OUSMANE DRAME
With Guinea needing a win over Kenya to qualify, the 33-year-old Drame was man of the match, scoring 19 points and adding 10 rebounds in just over 31 minutes on the floor.
Drame, who dished out four assists in his side's 57-44 win to seal a third successive appearance in the African competition, was rarely wrong from behind the arc, hitting five of his six attempts and finishing with an efficiency rating of 26.
KARIM MANE
The Greece-based guard was instrumental in Senegal's 83-76 overtime win over Cameroon, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds. He also dished out seven assists and made two steals.
Were it not for his team-high seven turnovers, the 24-year-old would have finished with a better efficiency rating than 18.
Cameroon's Fabien Ateba hit one from beyond the arc to level the score at 69, and Mane hit one from the charity stripe in OT, while teammate Brancou Badio scored six of his 17 points in the extra period and dished out 10 assists to seal the win.
CHILDE DUNDAO
Having already qualified as hosts of the 2025 AfroBasket, Angola did not let that slow them down in their clash with defending champions Tunisia.
Point guard Dundao made 5-of-9 from behind the arc, added four in the paint and was 8-of-9 from the charity stripe to finish with 31 points, including 12 in the second quarter when he and Jilson Bango put the Southern Africans ahead and held on for a 73-62 victory.
He added five rebounds and an equal number of assists to finish with a 30 efficiency rating in a game in which he picked up just one foul.
CALEB AGABA
The return of the Tokyo Olympian has been a blessing for Abdulrahman Mohammed's Nigeria.
For the second game in a row, Agada was a thorn in their side's side, scoring 23 points in a convincing 77-62 win over 2021 AfroBasket semifinalists Cape Verde.
The 30-year-old played just over 30 minutes and finished two rebounds shy of a double-double, while adding six assists and five steals for an efficiency rating of 29.
Nigeria entered the competition after an 0-3 start, but his disruptive presence on the floor helped them to a 3-0 run to qualify, averaging 19 points, 7.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
SIRIMAN KANOUTE
The two-time U18 AfroBasket MVP picked up where he left off in Mali's 75-72 upset of top-ranked South Sudan, delivering another dazzling performance with a tournament-high 37 points.
As Mali made easy work of winless Morocco, he contributed 23 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field and adding two three-pointers and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe.
He was Mali's top assist-provider with nine to go with seven rebounds and five steals as the West Africans finished their campaign with a 3-3 record.
