WURZBURG (Germany) - Nothing was on the line as FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets hosted Promitheas Patras BC Vikos Cola, but this will surely be remembered as one of the most memorable games in Basketball Champions League history.
The reason has one name: Jordan Walker.
The Greek team's point guard put on an absolute show, scoring 54 points (3-of-6 from two, 9-of-13 from three, and 21-of-22 at the line), while also getting 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals in just over 42 minutes on the floor.
Therefore, the 25-year-old broke not only the all-time BCL scoring record, but also the efficiency rating mark with 58.
He overcame Keifer Sykes and Saben Lee, who were tied for the all-time BCL scoring record with 43 points. Sykes recorded it with Banvit Bandirma in 2018-19, while Lee got it with Manisa Basket Divissa earlier this season.
The previous efficiency rating record was 47, set by Peristeri's Steven Gray back in 2020.
Jordan Walker is also the first player to record a 40-5-5 stat line in a Basketball Champions League game since the competition was born, back in the 2016-17 season.
"First of all, I'm happy we finally got a win in this round. First couple of games we didn't have all of our players. A lot of players were injured, including myself. It definitely feels good to have the win," Walker said after the game.
"Today, the way Walker played, we have to congratulate him. In the key moments he took the ball and we didn't find a solution to stop him. He was scoring really crazy, difficult shots. 54 points with 58 efficiency, he was really remarkable," Wurzburg coach Saso Filipovski said, before adding:
"I don't remember a game in my 30 years of experience when somebody scored 54 points with these kind of percentages."
A double-overtime game was needed, as the already-eliminated Promitheas shockingly beat Wurzburg in Germany, 119-115, putting a dent into the German's Quarter-Finals hopes.
