Al Shorta replaces Al Ahli Amman in Group B

Iraq’s Al Shorta Sports Club will replace Jordan’s Al Ahli Amman in Group B of the FIBA WASL West Asia League, the FIBA Regional Office - Asia confirmed on Friday.

BEIRUT (Lebanon) – Iraq’s Al Shorta Sports Club will replace Jordan’s Al Ahli Amman in Group B of the FIBA WASL West Asia League, the FIBA Regional Office - Asia confirmed on Friday.

Jordanian league champion Al Ahli was drawn alongside Lebanon Champions Al Riyadi, Syrian Champions Al Wahdah and Palestine’s Orthodox Beit Sahour in Group B.

However, it was confirmed this week that Al Ahli will not be taking part in this season’s FIBA WASL campaign.

Replacing the Amman-based club will be Al Shorta Sports Club. The Iraqi club was established in 1932 and finished as runners-up in the 2022-23 Iraqi Premier League.

This change will not impact the confirmed schedules of the games in Group B with the only change being Al Shorta SC playing the games scheduled for Al Ahli.
