BEIRUT (Lebanon) - FIBA WASL royalty Manama and Kuwait Club banner the much-anticipated Final Phase of the Gulf League Season 2 starting March.
The reigning FIBA WASL champions and the defending Gulf League titlists are seeded in the Sub-Zone League's semi-finals after topping their respective groups.
Manama swept Group A by winning all six assignments, the last of which was a 78-74 escape at the hands of an upset-hungry Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai at the BBA Arena on Tuesday night for a thrilling conclusion to their preliminary round campaign.
Kuwait Club, on the other hand, emerged as the best team in Group B by defeating Al Ahli-Jeddah on Monday night at the Shaikh Saad Alabdullah Sport Hall Complex. The formerly unbeaten squad clinched no. 1 status in the pool with a 4-2 record.
Soon, both teams will be monitoring what should be an exciting qualification to the semi-finals beginning March 4 to see who their opponents will be.
Manama, for one, will wait for the winner between Shabab Al Ahli-Dubai and Muharraq in a battle between Group A's third-seed and the No. 2 of Group B.
The victor between Group A second-seed Kazma and the third-ranked team of Group B in Al Rayyan, meanwhile, will face Kuwait Club in the semis.
The Qualification to Semi-Finals in each FIBA WASL Sub-Zone League will pit the second and third seeds in each group against each other.
Teams will play in a best-of-3 series, with the home court advantage going to the second-placed clubs. The winners will then join the teams that topped their respective groups and earned an outright berth to the semi-finals, which will also be a best-of-3 affair.
Winners will advance to the Final and qualify for the FIBA WASL Final 8, while the losing sides will face off for the two remaining Final 8 spots in a knockout game.
