BEIRUT (Lebanon) – Jordanian Orthodox Club - Amman will replace Palestine’s Orthodox Ramallah in Group A of the FIBA WASL West Asia League, the FIBA Regional Office - Asia confirmed on Thursday.
Palestinian league champions Orthodox Ramallah were drawn alongside Lebanon Champions Beirut Club, Syrian Champions Al Ittihad and Iranian Super League’s Zobahan in Group A.
However, it was confirmed this week that Orthodox Ramallah will not be taking part in the inaugural season FIBA WASL.
Replacing the Ramallah-based club will be Orthodox Club - Amman. The Jordanian club was established in 1952 and finished as runners-up in the 2021-22 Premier Basketball League.
This change will not impact the confirmed schedules of the games in WASL West Asia Group with the only change being Orthodox Club - Amman playing the games scheduled for Orthodox Ramallah.
