    CARACAS (FIBA Americas Championship) - Venezuela has their twelve players for the 2009 FIBA Americas Championship after cutting Roque Osorio.

    Greivis Vásquez, Jesús "Zancudo" Centeno, José Vargas, Rafael Pérez, Alejandro "Tapipa" Barrios, Oscar Torres, Héctor "Pepito" Romero, Miguel Marriaga, Luis Bethelmy, Axiers Sucre, Gregory Echenique and Richard Lugo are the twelve finalists for the team coached by Néstor Salazar.

    Venezuela qualified for the 2006 FIBA World Championship and in this tournament they are in Group B along with Argentina, Brazil, Dominican Republic and Panama. Their first game is against Argentina and then they play Brazil, Panama and the Dominican Republic. The top four teams per group reach the Quarterfinals.

    In the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship (Olympic Qualifier), Venezuela finished eighth and in the last World Qualifier (2005) they won Bronze.
