    VEN – Greivis Vasquez headlines Venezuela’s preliminary squad

    CARACAS (South American Championship) – Venezuela have named 19 players in their preliminary squad ahead of the South American Championship.

    One of the prominent players named is Greivis Vasquez, who just wrapped up an outstanding college career with the Maryland Terrapins in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

    The 19 players will gather at a training camp on June 15 in Isla Margarita and then host Brazil, Uruguay and Ecuador in a warm-up tournament in Caracas from July 21-23.

    Venezuela will then name their final squad before traveling on July 24 to Neiva, where the South American Championship will be staged from July 26-31.

    The Venezuelans had wanted to include veteran Oscar Torres but injury has prevented him from being named.

    Venezuela preliminary squad: Rafael Perez, Jesus Centeno, David Cubillan, Nestor Colmenares, Greivis Vasquez, Luis Valera, Gregory Echenique, Yorman Zamora, John Cox, Hector "Pepito" Romero, Luis Bethelmy, Francisco Centeno, Jesus Urbina, Miguel Marriaga, Carlos Cedeno, Jose Bravo, Juan Herrera, Heissler Guillent, Tulio Cobos and Axiers Sucre.
