NEW YORK (FIBA World Championship) - Washington Wizards center JaVale McGee has been called into the United States squad for the FIBA World Championship after Brook Lopez was forced to withdraw.
Lopez has been suffering from a bout of mononucleosis, and the New Jersey Nets star pulled out of contention on Wednesday.
McGee returns to camp having been part of the original group who trained in Las Vegas last week.
He will join up with the team when they reconvene in New York on Tuesday.
