CHEKHOV (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - Title holders USA moved closer to retaining their crown after dominating Canada, 93-45, in the Quarter-Finals of the 2015 FIBA U19 Women’s World Championship.
Turning point: The USA were rampant from the outset and stormed their way into a 28-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter - helped by scoring the first 11 points of the night to ensure there was no turning point.
Stats Don't Lie: Canada could only shoot 16.2 percent and that was starkly contrasted by 55.3 percent from the USA.
Game Heroes: It was a big team performance with Napheesa Collier and Mariya Moore combining for 24 points.
The Bottom Line: Canada were never able to get a foothold in the contest after a bleak start and their offensive struggles from earlier in the competition returned - albeit against some tough USA defense. Despite the disappointment, Canada have a goal in sight and that is to now try and better their seventh-place finish in Lithuania two years ago. The USA have worked their way through the tournament and all the way to the Semi-Finals without having to hit top gear. They will expect Spain to challenge them, but with Collier in excellent form and A'ja Wilson justifying the decision to make her captain, they will be confident of making it six Final appearances in a row - not least because of their power in the paint.
