    Another world title for USA

USA prove unstoppable once again as they post another unbeaten campaign at the event.

LEON (Mexico) - USA defeated Canada 84-64 to win the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup 2024 and secure a stellar sixth title in seven editions of the competition. While it had been highly competitive throughout as Canada pushed hard for an upset, USA snapped the contest open with a 14-2 run at the start of the last quarter.

USA star forward Jerzy Robinson brought the noise with another top display as she led the way with 25 points and 7 rebounds, while her teammate McKenna Woliczko went to work in the paint and added 19 points and 9 boards. USA have now won all but one edition of the FIBA U17 Women's Basketball World Cup. They missed out in 2016 as Australia topped the podium, but USA secured the prestigious trophy in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2018, 2022 and now in 2024.

    Spain won the bronze medal

In the Third-Place Game, Spain shut down France 47-39 with Ines Garcia Monje standing out after contributing 15 points, 10 rebounds and a superb 7 steals. There was also a fine cameo from Leyre Urdiain who posted 14 points and 9 boards. Robinson was handed the TISSOT MVP award for the tournament and was joined in the All-Star Five by teammate McKenna Woliczko, along with Agot Makeer of Canada, Sara Okeke of Spain and Ainhoa Risacher of France.
