SOUTHBEND (NCAA) - The Hansbrough family in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, sure produced some good basketball players.

Notre Dame's Ben Hansbrough well and truly stepped out of the giant shadow cast by his big brother, former North Carolina star Tyler, this season.

The senior, in his last home game with the Fighting Irish on Monday night and with Tyler, a player with the Indiana Pacers, watching from the stands, made seven of 10 shots from behind the arc and scored 30 points in a 93-72 victory over Villanova.

Tim Abromaitis also gave the Irish something to remember because the senior drilled nine of 13 shots from long range on route to 30 points.

Notre Dame hit a school record 20 three-pointers.

Hansbrough, who added 10 assists, five steals, did his part in making sure Notre Dame completed a 17-0 season at home.

"It means a lot because I told these guys before the game to do it for us," said Hansbrough, who transferred to Notre Dame after his first two years at Mississippi State.

"I said let's not do it for anybody else, just do it for ourselves, because of how hard we worked."

Who knows, Hansbrough could be on his way to Player of the Year honors.

Villanova coach Jay Wright thinks he's got a chance.

"We've seen a lot of great players this year so far," Wright said.

"After that performance, I'd say he's the best I've seen now."

Notre Dame, ranked seventh in the country, are 24-5.

The will now be looking to win the Big East Tournament.
