MIAMI (United States) - The captain of the historic Puerto Rico national women’s team, Pamela Rosado, was chosen as head coach of the women’s U16 team. Her country will participate in the FIBA U16 Americas Championship, to be played in Guanajuato, Mexico, between the 23rd and 29th of August.
Rosado, who finished playing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games just a couple of weeks ago, will now take on this challenge in which her team will look for one of the four tickets to the FIBA U-17 Women's World Cup 2022.
The 35-year-old has been preparing to take on the role on the bench, on top of staying competitive on the court. In fact, in the Tokyo women's tournament, she was one of the most outstanding of her team, being third best in scoring with 10.7 points and leader in assists with 3.3 per game.

Rosado has not officially announced what will happen with her career in the near future but the fact that she has been chosen to take the reins as coach of a national team, makes it clear how highly regarded she is if she ever decided to dedicate herself full time to coaching.
For this Puerto Rican women's basketball icon, achieving a good performance with the group of young women in Mexico would be another immense achievement in her decorated career.
