Twelfth edition of Basketball Without Borders Americas 2023 set to take place in Canada

NEW YORK /TORONTO (USA/Canada) - The National Basketball Association (NBA) and the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) today announced that the 12th edition of Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Americas will be held from June 22 to 25 at Cegep Edouard-Montpetit in Longueuil near Montreal, Quebec.

BWB Americas 2023 will bring together the top male and female players ages 18 and under from across Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean to learn directly from current and former NBA, WNBA and FIBA players, legends and coaches, including Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors; St. Lucia), Luguentz Dort (Oklahoma City Thunder; Canada; BWB Global 2017) and Bennedict Mathurin (Indiana Pacers; Canada; BWB Global 2020). NBA assistant coaches Rodney Billups (Portland Trail Blazers), Joe Boylan (Minnesota Timberwolves), Quinton Crawford (Dallas Mavericks), Bruce Fraser (Golden State Warriors), Jay Hernandez (Brooklyn Nets) and Eric Khoury (Raptors 905) will also serve as BWB Americas coaches, while former WNBA player Tamera Young joins as part of the Coaches Develop Program and Katia Sanon (Raptors 905) will serve as the camp's athletic trainer.

The campers, who will be announced prior to the camp, will also take part in life skills, leadership development and NBA Cares programming.

Thirty-eight former BWB campers were among the 120 international players on opening-night rosters for the 2022-23 NBA season, including several from Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean in Deandre Ayton (Phoenix Suns; Bahamas; BWB Global 2016), Dort, 2023 NBA All-Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Thunder; Canada; BWB Global 2016), Mathurin, Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets; Canada; BWB Global 2015) and Kelly Olynyk (Utah Jazz; Canada; BWB Americas 2009).

BWB Americas 2023 will be supported by Nike, a global partner of BWB since 2002, which will outfit participants with Nike apparel and footwear and Gatorade, which will keep players and coaches hydrated throughout the camp.

BWB, the NBA and FIBA's global basketball development and community outreach program, has reached more than 4,000 participants from 135 countries and territories since 2001, with 106 former campers advancing to the NBA or WNBA.  The NBA and FIBA have staged 68 BWB camps in 45 cities across 32 countries on six continents.
