NEW YORK (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Luis Scola has been a constant presence in Argentina’s national team the past several years and will be their leader at the 2010 FIBA World Championship in Turkey.
Scola is warming up for the event in the NBA with the Houston Rockets and on Monday, he had 14 points and 15 rebounds in a 113-96 victory at Utah.
Here's a look at the performances of the other players who could be headed to Turkey next year for the FIBA World Championship.
China
- Yi Jianlian - The Chinese big man played 17 minutes and had six rebounds to go with his four points on Monday in a defeat to Charlotte but left the contest after injuring his knee. He was due to undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
Australia
- David Andersen - The former CSKA Moscow and Barcelona big power forward came off the bench and played 14 minutes for Houston in Utah, scoring just three points on one of seven shooting from the floor.
- Nathan Jawai - The big man, traded to Minnesota in the summer from Toronto, scored two points in five minutes off the bench for Minnesota in their 93-90 defeat at the Los Angeles Clippers.
Turkey
- Mehmet Okur - The Turkey national team star, who skipped the EuroBasket this year due to injury, scored 21 points in Utah’s home loss to Houston.
Team USA
- Deron Williams - The Utah point guard poured in 18 points, handed out eight assists and grabbed six rebounds in the Jazz's defeat to Houston.
- Carlos Boozer - A back-up power forward/center with Team USA at the Beijing Games, Boozer had 11 rebounds to go with his seven points against the Rockets on Monday. He was just one of six shooting from the floor.
- Brook Lopez - The New Jersey Nets center and Team USA hopeful had 18 points and five rebounds but turned the ball over seven times in New Jersey's 79-68 defeat at Charlotte.
- Chris Paul - The New Orleans playmaker finished with 32 points and 13 assists but the Hornets lost at New York, 117-111.
Greece
- Kostas Koufos - The young Greece center played only two minutes for the Jazz in their loss to Houston.
Russia
- Andrei Kirilenko - AK47 had 18 points, seven rebounds, three blocked shots and two steals for Utah against the Rockets on Monday. Kirilenko will play in Turkey next year if Russia receive a wild card.
France
- Boris Diaw - The versatile French forward had 14 points for Charlotte in their win over New Jersey.
Spain
- Marc Gasol - The Spanish center had 16 points, 16 boards and two blocks in Memphis' 127-126 overtime defeat at Sacramento.
Argentina
- Andres Nocioni - The forward played 20 minutes and had 13 points for the Kings in their overtime win against Memphis.
Israel
- Omri Casspi - This time last year, playing time was an issue for Casspi at Maccabi Tel Aviv. After a coaching change, Casspi played a lot for Pini Gershon in Tel Aviv and now he is thriving as a Kings rookie. In 30 minutes, Casspi, the first Israeli to play in the NBA, had 15 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the win over Memphis.
Slovenia
- Beno Udrih - The Kings playmaker had 16 points in 29 minutes for the Kings in their one-point win over Memphis.
Germany
- Chris Kaman - The Beijing Games Olympian could play for Germany if they receive a wild card for next year. He had 25 points and 11 rebounds while also swatting two shots as the Los Angeles Clippers claimed their first win of the season, 93-90 over Minnesota.
