    LOS ANGELES (Olympics) - The basketball world is reflecting on the spectacular career of Kobe Bryant, who has retired as a player following his last outing this week with the Los Angeles Lakers. 'Mamba', who made his NBA debut in 1996, had a fitting end to his magnificent run, pouring in 60 points in a win over the Utah Jazz.

    As we look back on Bryant, we know that he was a champion. He was an All-Star. He was also terrific in the United States jersey.

    The 1.98m shooting guard played for his country at the 2007 FIBA Americas Championship, and both the 2008 and 2012 Olympics. The USA reached the top of the podium at each of those events.
