Borges, Montero, De Paula, Pérez and Ferreira were the players with the highest efficiency ratings during the January games.

MIAMI (United States) – Brazilian teams SESI Franca, Flamengo and Minas maintained their unstoppable pace during Basketball Champions League Americas Group Stage 2. They extended their undefeated streaks and earned tickets to the Quarterfinals. Their players were among the best of the competition and dominated the list of top performers during the January slate. These were the best players of Group Stage 2:

    Alexey Borges – Flamengo

PTS: 14.5 | FG: 75% | AST: 7.5 | STL: 4.0 | EFF: 24.0 The point guard was outstanding on both ends of the floor in both of Flamengo’s wins. He scored, set up teammates and was a true pest on defense. Against Boca Juniors, he picked up an incredible 7 steals. He’s currently leading the competition in steals (2.3), is second in assists (7.3) and third in efficiency (19.3).

    Luis Montero – Minas

PTS: 12.5 | FG: 52% | REB: 12.0 | BLK: 1.5 | EFF: 23.0 The Dominican star was also amongst the best in Stage 1 and did it again in January. The forward showed his versatility and led Minas to the next round thanks to his work on the boards. He’s currently leading the tournament in efficiency (20.8), is second in blocks (1.3) and third in rebounds per game (9.8).

George De Paula – SESI Franca

PTS: 10.5 | FG: 53% | REB: 7.5 | AST: 7.5 | STL: 1.0 | EFF: 21.5 Just like Montero, he was one of the best during Stage 1 and repeated the feat. At BCL Americas, he’s always been one of the top stat sheet stuffers while playing up to 3 different positions. He can generate good shots for his teammates, score and even help on the boards when necessary. He’s currently second in efficiency (20.3).

    Agustín Pérez Tapia – Quimsa

PTS: 19.5 | FG: 62% | REB: 2.0 | AST: 2.0 | STL: 2.0 | EFF: 20.5 This season of BCL Americas is bringing out the best from the Argentinian shooting guard. Despite Quimsa not having a great start (1-3 record), one of the main reasons they’re still in the hunt is Pérez Tapia, who’s leading the event in scoring (19.5 points per game).

    Wesley Ferreira – SESI Franca

PTS: 16.5 | FG: 77% | REB: 4.5 | AST: 2.0 | STL: 1.0 | EFF: 19.5 The big man raised his level in Stage 2 after a relatively quiet first slate. He made his presence felt, especially on offense, where he made 14 of 18 shots across his 2 games. With the return of Lucas Dias and Wesley returning to form, Franca is a strong favorite to go all the way. FIBA
