    Thabeet tribute on final day of 2024 East Africa Basketball Championship Cup

    A number of awards were handed on the final day of the 2024 East Africa Basketball Championship Cup.

    NAIROBI (Kenya) - Former NBA player Hasheem Thabeet was given a special recognition award as the 2024 East Africa Basketball Championship Cup (EABCC) ended Sunday, 15 December in Nairobi, Kenya.

    Thabeet guided Dar City to the second position. The team only lost one of their five matches on the card during matches played at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.

    Burundian side Remesha won the six-day event without losing a game after piping home team Kenya Ports Authority KPA 81-74.

    Dar City's power forward Nathaniel Brownlee was named the events Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

    The 2024 East Africa Basketball Championship Cup's All-Star team consisted of Gilbert Nijimbere (Ramesha), Jonas Nishi, Forward Salim Kisilu, Nathaniel Brownlee, and Landry Ndikumana.

    Other awardees included Top rebounder: Remesha's Steve Nsumizi who finished at the tournament's top rebounder, and ABC, who scooped the event's leading scorer trophy.
