MIES (Switzerland) - First week of the Round of 16 in the 2024-25 Basketball Champions League season is now in the books, and now that we've digested Tuesday's and Wednesday's action, Thursday brings us a chance to reflect on the best individual performances.
The 14th Team of the Week this season consists of Prentiss Hubb (AEK Betsson BC), Tyson Carter (Unicaja), James Palmer Jr (Galatasaray), William Howard (Nanterre 92) and Fran Guerra (La Laguna Tenerife).
Prentiss Hubb poured in his BCL career-high 30 points to help AEK to a 2-0 start, taking down Bertram Derthona Basket. Hubb averaged just 7.6 points over the previous five games, but timed his best game of the season to perfection.
Tyson Carter had 26 points for Unicaja, becoming the first player in BCL history to get more than 25 points in less than 19 minutes played, as he spent 18:39 on the court. His fourth quarter heroics proved to be the difference between Unicaja and Rytas Vilnius.
James Palmer Jr became the first player in the BCL to get 20+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists since Akil Mitchell did it for AEK back in January 2023. With Palmer's all-round performance, Galatasaray eased towards their first win on the road in the Round of 16, defeating Manisa Basket.
William Howard was the game winner for Nanterre 92, scoring 21 points against Falco-Vulcano Szombathely. Similar to Hubb, Howard struggled over his past three games, scoring a total of 20 points, but came through when his team needed him most on Wednesday.
Finally, Fran Guerra was the best man in the middle this week. The towering La Laguna Tenerife center stepped up to provide the scoring and rebounding his team needed after Giorgi Shermadini's disqualification early in the game. Guerra's heroics sent Tenerife to another win over BAXI Manresa.
You can now vote for the Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Friday, when the poll closes, on the official BCL social media channels: Facebook, X (Twitter) and Instagram.
