    Seven teams set to vie for Africa Zone 5 U16 continental tickets 

    KIGALI (Rwanda) - Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) will from June 28 to 30 host Africa Zone 5 Qualifiers to this year's FIBA U16 African Championships boys and girls.

     

    KIGALI (Rwanda) - Rwanda Basketball Federation (FERWABA) will from June 28 to 30 host Africa Zone 5 Qualifiers to this year's FIBA U16 African Championships boys and girls.

    Seven teams have confirmed participation in the three-day competition, four doing battle in the boys' category while three will clash in the girls' side.

    So far, hosts Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania and Uganda are confirmed for the event for boys while Uganda is the only side of the four not fielding a girls team., 

    The seven teams are competing for a single ticket, for either category, to the Final Round in Tunisia from 13 to 23 July 2023.

    Kigali hosted the 2019 FIBA U16 Women's African Championship

    Winners of the Zone 5 tickets in the boys category join 5-time champions Egypt in the battle for who becomes the 2023 African champions.

    Other teams that have qualified for the boys showpiece, so far, include Mali, Algeria, Angola, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria and host Tunisia in the Final Round.   

    Qualified teams for the Final Round of the 2023 FIBA U16 Women's African Championship, as of June 27, include Algeria, Angola, Egypt, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, Tunisia and Uganda.
