FIBA Confirms Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area as Official 3x3 Basketball Venue for LA28 Olympics

MIES (Switzerland) – FIBA is excited to confirm that the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area will be the official venue for 3x3 basketball at the Olympic Games LA28.

Home to beautiful parks and multiple sports facilities, the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area, Los Angeles' second-largest urban park, will bring the world’s best 3x3 basketball players to the heart of the city.

The combination of world-class competition and the vibrant urban culture of Los Angeles will create an electrifying and unforgettable atmosphere for spectators in the stands and around the globe.

Sepulveda Basin will transform into an urban sports park, where 3x3 basketball will feature alongside BMX freestyle, BMX racing and skateboarding – just as it did so successfully at last year's Olympic Games. This multi-sport hub will offer players and fans a truly unparallelled Olympic experience building on the unforgettable atmospheres generated in Paris.

“We are excited that the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area will be the stage for 3x3 basketball at the Olympic Games LA28. This iconic urban park embodies the spirit of 3x3 — open, dynamic, and rooted in the community,” said FIBA 3x3 Managing Director Alex Sanchez.

“Los Angeles is one of the world’s most iconic basketball cities and has a thriving 3x3 culture. The 2028 Olympic Games will therefore be an incredibly special milestone for our sport. No doubt, the world’s fastest-growing urban sport will leave a lasting legacy for future generations in the San Fernando Valley.”

The 2028 Games will mark the first time that Olympic and Paralympic events will be staged in the San Fernando Valley. The Olympic Games LA28 are scheduled to take place from 14-30 July.
