MIES (Switzerland) - The remaining four spots will be confirmed next week, as eight teams are set for do-or-die Game 3s in the Play-Ins.
With the groups determined by the Season 9 draw back in July, the Round of 16 is already beginning to take shape with 12 participants in there, eight group winners from the Group Phase, and the four teams which have made the Play-Ins dance a two-step.
Group I
FIT/One Wurzburg Baskets advanced as Group A winners, AEK Betsson BC as Group E winners. Promitheas Patras BC Vikos Cola qualified by sweeping Karsiyaka in the Play-Ins, even though they did not have homecourt advantage.
Bertram Derthona Basket eliminated last season's Final Four member Peristeri Domino's with a 2-0 score in the Play-Ins.
Group J
The defending champions Unicaja won Group B, while Rytas Vilnius finished on top of Group F. Manisa Basket joined the group with their incredible comeback against NINERS Chemnitz in the Play-Ins, winning two games by a combined four points.
The fourth member of this group will be either Galatasaray or Saint-Quentin Basket-Ball. Their Play-In matchup is tied at 1-1, and the Turkish juggernauts have Game 3 in front of their fans in Istanbul next week.
Group K
Two-time champs La Laguna Tenerife arrived in this group as Group C winners. BAXI Manresa needed a dramatic last second head-to-head win over Derthona to claim Group G and join their countrymen.
Pallacanestro Reggiana made it to their first Round of 16 by stunning the 2023 champions Telekom Baskets Bonn across two games, while the fourth member of this group would come either from Türkiye or Israel.
Aliaga Petkimspor will play host to Hapoel Netanel Holon in Baku, Azerbaijan next week to determine the final participant of this group.
Group L
Perennial Czech champions ERA Nymburk made it back to the Round of 16 with an impressive run in Group D. UCAM Murcia were a step ahead of Manisa in Group H to claim the other group winner spot in this group.
The remaining two teams are coming from the Play-Ins. Nanterre 92 and Filou Oostende will have a third rendezvous next week, once again in France, while Falco-Vulcano Szombathely take on Maccabi Ramat-Gan at home in Hungary.
The first games of the Round of 16 will be played on January 28. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Quarter-Finals, group winners getting the higher seed and the homecourt advantage in the best-of-three series.
The draw for the Quarter-Finals will be held after the Round of 16 phase, and the season ending Final Four tournament will be held in May.
