    TRIPOLI (Afrobasket 2009) - Hope of Nigeria of being among the three African countries to the Turkey 2010 FIBA World Championship was dashed in the quarter-final Thursday by 2007 runner-up, Cameroon by 84-80 points.

    The Nigerian side who could only manage a 24-22 points win in the last quarter trailed the Cameroonian right from the sound of the referee whistle giving the Cameroon side the needed confidence to control the game.

    The Cameroon side won the first three quarters by 26-23, 20-17 and 20-16 to maintain a comfortable lead throughout the game.

    Gaston Essegue led the Cameroonian with 17 points, Harding Ngueyep added 16 points and 8 rebounds while the duo of Parfait Bitee and Joachim Ekanga each scores 12 and 11 points to take their side to the semi-final where they will confront the winner of the game between Cote d’Ivoire and Senegal on Friday at the Africa Union Hall in Tripoli, Libay.
