MIAMI (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Carlos Arroyo will go to the FIBA World Championship with Puerto Rico safe in the knowledge that his team future is secure after he re-signed with the new-look Miami Heat.

Arroyo can look forward to playing with LeBron James and co next season, but will first turn his attention to the tourmanet in Turkey in a month’s time.

“Looking forward to a championship!!!" Arroyo wrote in an email to the South Florida Sun Sentinal. "Excited!!!!

“I've been training with my national team all summer."

The Heat have made the biggest splash in the NBA off-season, landing Team USA superstar James and bringing back another US international Dwyane Wade.

“By re-signing Carlos, we feel we have accomplished another big step in adding to this team,” said Heat president Pat Riley.

“Carlos showed last season that he was one of the most competitive and efficient point guards in the NBA, and we are happy to have him back.”

Last year, Arroyo averaged 6.1 points, 3.1 assists and 1.8 rebounds in 72 games, 35 of them starts.

    His 4.17 assist-to-turnover ratio set a single-season franchise record.
