SAN JUAN (FIBA Americas Championship) - Former Brazil coach Moncho Monsalve remains hopeful of landing the Puerto Rico job amongst a crowded field of candidates.

The Spanish coach, who led Brazil to gold at the FIBA Americas Championship in Puerto Rico in 2009, has had a phone interview with the Puerto Rican federation, but is now hoping to travel to San Juan to make his case in person.

"With so many candidates up for job, it cannot be easy for the committee to evaluate people," he told primerohova.com.

"I have thought of travelling to Puerto Rico after my first interview. I think this would be the best way to go so we can know each other better."

Puerto Rico are seeking a coach ahead of the FIBA Americas Championship in September and the Pan American Games in October.
