    Yoshida makes return for Japan at Women's Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2019 in Malaysia

    TOKYO (Japan) -  FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2019 champions Japan are not holding back at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifiers Asia-Oceania 2019, listing big names such as Ramu Tokashiki and Asami Yoshida.

    TOKYO (Japan) -  FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2019 champions Japan are not holding back at the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifiers Asia-Oceania 2019. The 12-player roster for the Pre-Qualifying tournament was released, featuring some of the best in the country.

     

    Reigning Women’s Asia Cup MVP Nako Motohashi headlines the roster along with two-time Asia Cup MVP Ramu Tokashikii. A total of 6 players from the 2019 Women’s Asia Cup title squad are listed for the tournament including Himiwari Akaho.

    Asami Yoshida will also be making a return to play for the national team once again. The legendary point guard was a key contributor for Japan at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and has returned to be a part of the squad in these early stages.

    Japan were placed in Group B of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Pre-Qualifiers for the Asia-Oceania region along with Australia, Chinese Taipei, and India. Their games will be played at MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from November 14-17.

    Japan’s first game will be against India on November 14 at 20:00 (GMT +8).
