Panama will face a difficult match on the 27th against Brazil, as they both lead Group B with a 2-0 record, and on the 28th they will compete against the always-tough Uruguay (0-2) team.
“Uruguay and Brazil have their players in their country and they are already training, that's why they have an advantage over us. Although they will not play at home, they have their fans close by,” the coach of the Central American team, Puerto Rican David Rosario, told Estadiodeportivo.com.
A notable loss for the team is Center Javier Carter, who will be out due to a wrist injury. Carter averaged 14.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in the two victories of the first window against Paraguay (0-2).
The president of the Panamanian Federation, former player Jair Peralta, told the newspaper La Prensa that the group will travel to Argentina on the 23rd. "Most of the players will depart from Panama and the rest will join in Buenos Aires," he said.
Fepaba reported that the delegation will be accompanied by a doctor and that they will have all the necessary health measures to prevent and minimize the risk of contagion in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The top three teams from each of the Qualifiers groups will advance to the AmeriCup 2022.
