Serbia's victory over Brazil during the second game of the tournament turned out to be decisive for the qualification. Serbia finished with a 1-2 record after losing to Australia (73-75) Sunday afternoon but benefited from the outcome of the night game, where Brazil needed to defeat Germany by at least 7 points. Previously, Serbia fell to Germany (66-73) on Thursday and bested Brazil (72-65) on Saturday.

Marina Maljkovic’s squad now heads to Paris, where they’ll seek their second Olympic medal after winning bronze in Rio de Janeiro 2016.

Serbia Women's National Team Olympic history:

    Appearances: 2 - 2016 (3rd); 2020 (4th)
    Medals: 1 -🥉(2016)

Having never appeared at the Olympics previously, Serbia find themselves potentially ready to make it three participation's in a row! Their debut at Rio 2016 was epic as they followed up their first FIBA Women's EuroBasket title a year earlier with a first Olympics outing and made it even more special with a maiden medal as they took bronze. Last time out at Tokyo 2020 they almost repeated the feat but just missed out and finished 4th.
