Lauren Jackson: ''I'm not gonna go to Paris''

BELEM (Brazil) - Following the win against Germany, Australian basketball legend Lauren Jackson stated in the mixed zone that she would not be joining the Opals in France this summer.

"It's great that we qualified, and the Opals are going to the Olympics again. You know, we've had a great tradition of that, and I'm just really proud of them. It's good," Jackson remarked.

While reveling in the joy of her nation's accomplishment, Jackson revealed she does not plan to join the Opals at the upcoming Olympics. When asked if she plans to attend the Games, she responded with a definitive "Am I gonna go? No."

"I know the girls are excited about a medal, but not me."

She confirmed it on her social media platforms.

Lauren Jackson had previously announced in Sydney in 2022 that the Third Place game marked her last appearance with the Opals. While legendary players often have a habit of coming out of retirement, basketball fans everywhere are hopeful that LJ will reconsider and join her team in France for one last Olympic game. Her performance in Belem suggests she still possesses the skills and ability to greatly contribute to her national team on the court.
