ANTWERP (Belgium) - Fans of the Cats are being urged to snap up tickets for the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in a bid to break the attendance record for a female sports event in Belgium.
The reigning FIBA Women's EuroBasket champions are eager for home supporters to roar their team on to Paris 2024 by coming to watch between February 8 to 11 at the Antwerp Sportpaleis.
"On the Sunday, we will know if we get to go to the Olympics for the second time in a row," said playmaker Julie Vanloo.
"We want to share this moment with as many fans as possible. In fact we’re secretly hoping to break the crowd record for a women's game in Belgium, in the matchup against Nigeria on February 11.
"In women's soccer that record is held by Standard Liege with 9,027 spectators. We want to break that record - along with gaining the Olympic ticket of course," she added.
Belgium will also have the likes of marquee star Emma Meesseman, Julie Allemand, Antonia Delaere and Kyara Linskens in their lineup as they get set to face current Olympic and FIBA Basketball Women's World Cup champions USA, along with African duo Senegal and Nigeria. The full schedule of games can be found here.
"We are proving that we are an incredibly accessible sport," emphasized General Manager, Koen Umans.
"For less than €15 per game, you can see the world champion as well as the European champion play on every day of the tournament - both of whom will want to perform at their strongest."
Initially, an exciting 'All Games Pass' and also Courtside tickets which are the best in the house, will both be available to purchase from 17:00 CET on Wednesday November 29 via the Sportpaleis website.
Those supporters who prefer to purchase day tickets only will have to be patient and wait until December 5, when tickets in the other categories will be made available to the general public.
