Latvia, who won the hearts of an entire Baltic nation last summer when they made a stunning run to the Quarter-Finals of the FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila before falling by just two points to eventual champions Germany, will have home advantage.
Yet there are several other countries with genuine designs on making it to the Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024.
In Group A with Latvia will be Georgia and the Philippines. Georgia are seeking their first-ever Olympic qualification while the Philippines are trying to make it back to the Summer Games for the first time since 1972.
Group B will have a locked and loaded Brazil, one of the best teams in the Americas, along with surprise package Cameroon and Montenegro, a country that has qualified for the last two FIBA Basketball World Cups.
There are many games that have fans excited already on the calendar at all four OQTs, with Piraeus, San Juan and Valencia also host cities. Among the must-watch matchups before the Semi-Finals and Final in the Riga OQT will be a couple of July 2 matchups - Georgia v Latvia and Brazil v Montenegro.
