YAOUNDE (Cameroon) - Cameroon have announced a 26-man preliminary squad for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 Latvia that includes some of the country's most prominent players.
In addition to top prospect Ulrich Chomche - a projected draft pick in next month's NBA Draft - and Jeremiah Hill, head coach Alfred Aboya invited Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam.
Besides all twelve players that helped Cameroon clinch the FIBA Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament held last August in Lagos, Nigeria, Aboya called up several foreign-based Cameroonian players, including Baylor University's center Yves Missi, who has also declared for the 2024 NBA Draft.
According to the Cameroon Basketball Federation (FECABASKET), the Indomitable Lions will hold a training camp in Riga, Latvia from June 15-30 where they will play two preparation against Egypt (June 24) and Georgia (June 26). Aboya is expected to announce Cameroon's final roster a few days before the OQT where they will face Brazil and Montenegro in Group B in Riga from July 2-7.
This is Cameroon's first OQT appearance since finishing 0-2 at the 2008 Athens OQT.
